Influenced by the sound of 20th century jazz, I began studying the Upright Bass during my undergraduate studies in Washington D.C. I had the opportunity to see world class artists at events hosted by the Smithsonian Institution. Eventually, I was able to perform in a quartet setting at a few Embassies around the District of Columbia. Once I moved to Germany, I continued to perform jazz and began to perform with classical orchestras. I was fortunate to have had the privilege to perform the world premiere of an unearthed piece composed by Anton Bruckner at the Meistersingerhalle in Nuremberg, Germany.

I began learning to navigate through the keyboard. I was primarily interested in internalizing harmony and function in jazz. Eventually, I became more interested in using the keyboard to externalize harmonies I was innately perceiving through the combination of cultures I was exposed to during my early years. I continued to play the keyboard during my time living in Detroit.

To better grasp the flexibility offered by melodic instruments, I began learning the saxophone. Over time, I started to become more comfortable with the instrument, performing regularly around San Francisco.

While having worked extensively in the audio field, I was primarily interested in acoustic instruments. A chance encounter with a Roland beat machine and sequencer ignited my interest. I was surprised at how easily I was able to manipulate the instrument to produce soundscapes that aligned with my background in tonal harmony.

My journey began with a deep passion for audio. Following a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus in Signal Processing, I worked as a Research Scientist at the Fraunhofer Institute in Germany, developing next generation audio codecs; following the mp3 audio format. From there I led teams at Harman in Detroit, developing premium audio systems for Volvo, Hyundai Genesis and GM Cadillac. More recently, I led teams across Google for the Pixel Silicon and the Spatial Audio feature. While driven by a desire for deep technical expertise, I maintained an artistic sensitivity by performing on numerous stages globally.
